About Me
Hi, I’m Julie Cardoza, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California, Certified EMDR Therapist, and EMDRIA Approved Consultant serving clinicians across the U.S. and Canada.

I have worked in the field of mental health for over 20 years.

My work moves beyond traditional talk therapy.—my approach is Somatic EMDR—meeting you where you are and allowing change to emerge naturally.

It is body-based, depth-oriented, and intentionally paced, honoring the profound connection between mind and body.

My additional specialty is working within midlife mental health.
My Approach
My approach integrates neuroscience, somatic therapy, Polyvagal-informed practices, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) into a comprehensive framework for emotional healing.

Drawing from trauma-informed mindfulness, breathwork, and my background in yoga and somatic practices, therapy focuses on helping the nervous system reorganize rather than simply managing symptoms.

The goal is lasting change through direct experience—not insight alone.

Animal Assisted Therapy
Talu, a 4-year-old Shih Tzu mix rescue (AKC Good Citizen; Therapy Dog in Training), offers gentle support for nervous system regulation and the development of safety and trust within the therapeutic relationship.

His calm, nonjudgmental presence can be especially supportive for individuals navigating trauma, transitions, and emotional overwhelm.
Services
Individual Therapy for Adults
I work with adults navigating anxiety, trauma, life transitions, and the intersection of physical and emotional health.

Therapy for Women in Midlife
I specialize in the intersection of trauma, physical health, and midlife transitions, including perimenopause, menopause, and medically induced hormonal change.

These transitions often interact with nervous system regulation, identity shifts, and unresolved trauma responses. Therapy supports stabilization, integration, and adaptation during this significant life phase.
